"New Path saved my daughter's  life."

On behalf of myself and the Board of Directors at New Path Foundation – thank you for your ongoing support of child and youth mental health services in Simcoe County through the Helpthe1in5 Fund. You’ve helped us build a community to raise awareness about the importance of accessing mental health support and reducing the stigma of seeking help.

Since COVID-19, more than half (59%) of parents noted behavioural changes in their children, ranging from outbursts or extreme irritability to drastic changes in mood, behaviour, or personality and difficulty sleeping/altered sleeping patterns as well as persistent sadness and more. (Source:

As we continue to navigate this new normal, we are working diligently to ensure that all children, youth, and their families know that they can turn to New Path Youth & Family Services for mental health services when and where they need them. This past year saw a surge in calls to access mental health supports throughout Simcoe County – Alliston, Barrie, Bradford, Cookstown, Collingwood, Orillia, and everywhere in between. With your help, we can continue to be there for those who need mental health support.

Reducing barriers to accessing services is paramount. 1 in 5 Canadian children and youth under the age of 19 has a diagnosable mental health concern. That’s why New Path Youth & Family Services has shifted to offering not only in-person services but also call-in and virtual mental health supports. Last year alone, although their largest referral source, schools, were closed, New Path’s trained counsellors saw more than 2,400 children, youth, and their families for mental health support.

Here at New Path, we know that early intervention and treatment works. We are committed to ensure that children, youth, and their families in need of help have timely access to a wide range of short and long-term mental health supports when and where they need them. Because mental health can't wait, please help us support the most vulnerable in our communities so no one feels alone navigating these difficult times.

In appreciation,

James Thomson

“New Path has essentially saved my daughter’s life. I can’t be any more direct than that. By finally having the support of a therapist, who allowed her to talk about the traumatic events that have led her here, to the support of the staff when things got rough, to a Program Manager who has showed her time and time again that he will not discharge her from the program until she is truly ready to lead a healthy life at home, my daughter has been able to not only stabilize but to flourish.”
